Sand Sculptors Win Amateur Contest

A six-member team from Silver Strand Beach won the Maritime Days Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest.

Calling themselves the Sand Muffins, the team garnered the top prize for its elaborately detailed mermaid, castle and fish sculptures. The team members were Alexis Fredrick, Teddy Johnson, Nancy Marson, Jennifer O’Neill, Denny O’Neill and Sherri O’Neill.

The contestants used natural materials found on the beach to create their sand sculptures.
