AIDS Walk Attracts 15,000 Participants
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Infants in strollers, couples hand-in-hand and dogs wearing red ribbons made their way around the streets of the nation’s capital in an annual trek to raise money for the care of AIDS patients. Organizers estimated that more than 15,000 people participated in the 10th annual AIDS Walk Washington, which covered 6.2 miles and raised more than $2 million. Similar events are held in major cities across the country. AIDS is the third-highest cause of death in the District of Columbia.
