Sole Survivor of ‘Gang of Four’ Free

Two decades after Mao Tse-tung’s chief bodyguard carried out the arrest of Mao’s widow, Jiang Qing, and the three other members of her notorious “Gang of Four,” its sole survivor was officially free. Yao Wenyuan, 64, had formally completed his 20-year prison term. Chinese sources said Yao has been effectively at liberty since 1994, living in utmost secrecy in his hometown of Shanghai.
