3 Arrested in Recovery of Equipment--and a Rattlesnake

Police officers in search of drugs and stolen property swept through an Oxnard apartment Friday morning, making three arrests and recovering electronic equipment, cloned cellular phones and a rattlesnake that was turned over to state Fish and Game officials.

Officers from Oxnard and Port Hueneme served a search warrant at about 8 a.m. at the apartment in the 3400 block of Peninsula Road. Once inside, officers said, they found steroids, phones and equipment for cloning, and a cache of electronic equipment, some of which had had their serial numbers removed.

It is against state law to possess electronic equipment with serial numbers removed, authorities said.

Officers said they also found a rattlesnake in the apartment, although no one at the residence claimed ownership of the animal.

Police arrested William Craig Stuart, 35, and James W. Kitchens Dempsey, 34, both of Oxnard, on suspicion of possession of electronic equipment with serial numbers removed, cloned phones and cloning equipment. Stuart was also charged with suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Both men were booked into Ventura County Jail and held on $5,000 bail each.

Officers also arrested Lisa Marie Glaslum, 24, of Ventura on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Jail officials Friday had no record of her arrest.
