British Soldier Dies of Blast Injuries
A British soldier injured in an Irish Republican Army bombing in Northern Ireland died of his injuries. Warrant Officer James Bradwell, 43, was the first British soldier to die on active duty in Northern Ireland since the IRA and its Protestant loyalist rivals called cease-fires in 1994. The IRA called off its cease-fire in February but had targeted English cities. The father of three suffered burns on 60% of his body in the attack on the British army’s headquarters in Northern Ireland at Lisburn, 10 miles from Belfast, the capital. He was one of 31 people injured in the blasts from two car bombs.
