Much-rumored photos featuring Courtney Love and Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland together in very suggestive poses were set to appear in Hustler, according to some reports, but were instead bought by the magazine’s publisher, Larry Flynt, and destroyed, sources close to those involved say. Flynt befriended Love during filming of “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” the upcoming movie about Flynt in which Love co-stars with Woody Harrelson. . . .

While Stone Temple Pilots readies to get back on the road, Atlantic Records is preparing for a likely spring release of an album recorded by band members Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz--with another singer--while Weiland was in drug rehab. No name has been taken by the group yet, and no word about further plans. . . .

George Clinton and Coolio have just shot a video for a new version of Clinton’s “Atomic Dog” that will be on his “Greatest Funkin’ Hits” album, due Oct. 29. All the tracks are either remixes of classic P-Funk and solo cuts or rarities, including a remix of “Flashlight” (with guests Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes and Ol’ Dirty Bastard) and a never released version of “Bop Gun” with Ice Cube. . . .

Henry Rollins’ Rollins Band has gone into a studio in Bearsville, N.Y., to work on its first album for the new DreamWorks label, though Imago Records’ claim that Rollins is still under contract there has not been resolved. Rollins signed with DreamWorks after claiming that his Imago contract was void following that company’s loss of major-label distribution last year. . . .

“Dances With Wolves” author Michael Blake--who dedicated that book to friends John Doe and Exene Cervenka--has recorded “End of the Century,” an album of mostly spoken pieces featuring two other former X members--Tony Gilkyson and D.J. Bonebrake--producing and playing drums, respectively. . . .

Georgia’s Jack Logan is set to record his third album in Atlanta, with former Clash manager Cosmo Vinyl producing. It’s due in the spring.
