City National to Purchase Riverside Bank: City National Corp., parent of City National Bank, said it would merge with Riverside National Bank in a deal valued at $39 million. The merger with City National, with $3.9 billion in assets and 29 branches, marks the second takeover of a small regional bank this year. In September, Beverly Hills-based City National said it would merge with Ventura County National Bancorp, the holding company of Ventura County National Bank and Frontier Bank. Riverside National Bank, with four branches and $242 million in assets, is the largest commercial bank in Riverside County.
