From Times Wire Reports

Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani threatened to ask Iraqi President Saddam Hussein for further aid against a rival militia six weeks after earlier Iraqi intervention unleashed a retaliatory U.S. missile strike. Barzani’s rival, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, has closed in this week on the city of Irbil, which Barzani’s Democratic Party of Kurdistan captured with the backing of Iraqi tanks and troops in late August. In Moscow, U.S. Defense Secretary William J. Perry said he was watching the situation closely and hoped there would be no reason to use U.S. military power again.
