A Louisiana State University administrator who awarded 49 minority scholarships to white students has resigned. “I am filled with remorse for any harm I may have brought upon LSU,” David “Sonny” DeVillier wrote in his resignation. An audit of a scholarship program administered by the chancellor’s office found that DeVillier had given white students 49 of 54 scholarships set up to help minority students. The audit also found that many of the scholarships, which ranged from $250 to $750 a semester, went to students in a fraternity with which DeVillier was affiliated.
