I-Flow Corp.: The Irvine designer and developer of ambulatory infusion systems said it incurred a net loss of $4.2 million, or 34 cents a share, for the third quarter, because of a $4.9 million write-off for research and development costs related to the recent acquisition of Block Medical Inc. Net income for the previous year’s third quarter was $340,000, or 4 cents a share. Sales increased 54% to $4 million from $2.6 million. The company lost $3.3 million, or 29 cents a share, for the nine-month period, contrasted with profit of $576,000, or 6 cents a share, for the like period last year. Revenue gained 17% to $8.4 million from $7.2 million.
