Unilab Sells Promissory Note to Raise Revenues

Unilab Corp. in Tarzana has raised $11 million by selling a promissory note to Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp.

Unilab, a laboratory services concern that been posting big losses this year, will take a nonrecurring charge of $4.5 million in the fourth quarter from the sale of the note. The promissory note has a face value of $15 million.
