Align-Rite International Inc. posted a 12% rise in its net income on a 20% jump in revenues in its second quarter that ended Sept. 30.

The Burbank-based maker of photomasks, which are plates used by semiconductor makers to transfer circuit patterns onto silicon chips, posted net income of $1.38 million, up from $1.23 million a year earlier. Revenues in the latest quarter rose to $9.7 million, up from $8 million a year ago.

For its six-month period, Align-Rite’s net income climbed 19% to $2.72 million, up from $2.28 million last year. Revenues rose 22% to $19.2 million, compared to $15.7 million in the same period last year.

The company also said that because of a slowing in customer demand, it expects photomask sales to drop the equivalent of about 4% of its current sales.
