Program to Reward Employee Safety

Share

The company that provides workers’ compensation insurance for thousands of Ventura County employees has proposed an incentive program aimed at promoting worker safety and reducing claims.

Executives from the American International Group, a carrier with offices across the United States, agreed to spend up to $10,000 on the program, which rewards the most safety conscious employees with gifts and prizes.

County officials agreed to target a handful of workers from the Corrections Services Agency, the Public Works Agency, the General Services Agency and the Health Care Agency.

But the collection of workers involved in the pilot project will be limited to about 80 employees per group.

If workers suffer work-related injuries that require them to miss four or more complete work days, they will be disqualified from the monthly contest.

The value of the gift certificates to be awarded ranges from $25 to $125.
