Experts Defuse Car Bomb in N. Ireland

BELFAST, Northern Ireland —
British army experts defused a huge car bomb Thursday left by Catholic guerrillas outside police headquarters in Londonderry, officials said.
A caller claiming to speak for the hard-line Irish Continuity Army Council alerted local news media to a car with a 600-pound bomb.
Hundreds of shoppers and students were evacuated as bomb experts detonated at least one device.
