Some Hot Cookbook

Share

“The Some Like It Hot Cookbook,” by Sarah Key and Gail Monaghan (Abbeville Press; $8.95), is the latest in that strange recent genre of cookbooks based on movies. One wonders how many people will actually cook any of the recipes here (e.g. Bull Fiddle Fried Bananas, Toothpick Charlie’s Spicy Crabcakes or Pineapple-Papaya Saxophone-Playing Salsa). Nice though they appear to be.

Anyway, the 1959 movie “Some Like It Hot” was a wonderfully genial comedy (a fair amount of the dialogue is included here) and this is a genial book, and it’s just getting to be that season.
