A New Mexico-based media group that already owns two local radio stations has completed the purchase of KBBY-FM (95.1), an adult contemporary music station based in Ventura.

Company executives confirmed the sale Wednesday, saying Bengal Communications of Albuquerque agreed to acquire the pop music station from Buenaventura Inc.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed, said Marilyn Woods, KBBY general manager. The transaction, however, will not be completed until approved by the Federal Communications Commission early next year.

Buenaventura Inc. officials also decided to sell their other two local stations--KTND-FM Thunder (105.5) and its KXSP-AM (1590) Spanish-language station, both bought by Gold Coast Communications, she said.

Woods said Bengal Communications executives earlier this year negotiated the purchase of two other local radio properties--KHAY-FM (101) country music station and KVEN-AM (1450) local news and talk radio.

She said escrow closed Nov. 15 on those purchases.
