Datum Gets In on Rockwell NAVSTAR Deal

IRVINE — Datum Inc. said Wednesday it has received a subcontract from Rockwell International Corp. to develop and produce clocks for the Global Positioning Satellite NAVSTAR program.
Datum, which makes time and frequency measurement instruments, said it will initially provide nine clocks, plus an option for an additional 24. The initial phase is worth about $5 million. The full value of the contract, including the option, is expected to be more than $11 million.
Rockwell is under contract with the Air Force to provide 33 satellites.
