Homophobia

* Do Arianna Huffington (Column Right, Dec. 10) and Howard Rosenberg (Calendar, Dec. 6) think “The Jenny Jones Show” alone was responsible for the murder of Scott Amedure? Reading their columns condemning the talk show, I’m amazed that homophobia was never mentioned. This country’s irrational, socially ingrained and tolerated hatred of homosexuals must change. It’s time we stopped making excuses for those who murder gay people and stop giving these murderers light sentences just because the victim was gay.

On a positive note, I applaud your Business section for running the story about the gay couple and their financial investment make-over (Dec. 10). It’s refreshing and progressive to see not only visibility like this, but also have a story treat the couple’s “gayness” as just another aspect of being human!
