From Times Wire Reports

Army mutineers detained their leader for signing a deal extending a truce in the capital, Bangui, rebels said. They said Capt. Anicet Saulet was seized by soldiers who said the one-month extension he agreed to Sunday was longer than he had been authorized to sign. He was being held at a rebel base in the city. “Capt. Saulet betrayed the military in signing a truce of 30 days whereas the soldiers insisted on 15 days,” Sgt. Roger Kongbossomo said. Separately, hundreds of residents in rebel strongholds in Bangui’s southern districts marched to demand a quick and permanent end to the mutiny, which started Nov. 16.
