From Times Wire Reports

Zaire’s army has launched a counteroffensive against rebels trying to oust the government of President Mobutu Sese Seko. Rebel leader Laurent Kabila said troops attacked positions in Fizi, about 190 miles south of the eastern Zairian town of Goma, but were beaten back.
