Health Net Settles Dispute Over ‘D’ Rating by Agency

Health Net, a Woodland Hills health maintenance organization, said its legal dispute with Weiss Ratings Inc., a Florida agency that rates HMOs and insurance companies, has ended in a settlement.
Health Net, which was once given a “D” rating by Weiss, sued the rating agency alleging defamation among other complaints.
Weiss responded with a claim for reimbursement of legal costs.
According to Health Net, the settlement announced Thursday calls for both firms to droptheir claims and for each to bear its own attorney’s fees and costs.
Neither side has conceded wrongdoing.
