From Times Staff and Wire Reports

U.S. officials tried to halt the expected secret departure from the U.S. of a foreign diplomat involved in a high-speed car accident that took the life of a 16-year old girl. Protected by diplomatic immunity, Republic of Georgia envoy Gueorgui Makharadze may return home before the weekend, said the officials.
