The Rev. William H. Genne; Former Council of Churches Official

The Rev. William H. Genne, 86, former National Council of Churches director of family ministries. A minister in the United Church of Christ, Genne held the national position from 1957 to 1975. The job included education and counseling on sexuality, and Genne was credited with pioneering efforts in organizing workshops on both family life and sex education. Earlier in his career, Genne spent 18 years as a college chaplain and six years with the Clare Elizabeth Fund for Maternal Health in Flint, Mich. He and his wife, Betty, spent the first 10 years of their retirement as program directors at Geneva Point Center in New Hampshire. On Tuesday in Claremont.
