Library Fund-Raiser Needs Old Cookbooks

Vintage cookbooks will be offered for sale at Friends of the Fullerton Public Library’s silent auction, which will raise money for children’s summer reading programs at the city library.

Abbie Macy, a Friends spokeswoman, said the group is specifically seeking cookbooks dating from 1850 to 1950.

“We’re looking for something that’s unique,” she said. “Many of the old books dealt with the times like during World War I, when there was a sugar shortage.”

The books will be on display at the library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave., from March 8 through April 11. Bids will be taken during the exhibition.

Those with old cookbooks to donate may drop them off at the library.
