Bullfrog Coach Grant Sonier said Thursday he will be replaced by assistant Brad McCaughey as coach of the Roller Hockey International team.

Bullfrogs owner Maury Silver said Sonier will remain with the Bullfrogs as director of player personnel. The change will become official next week at the annual league winter meetings in Boca Raton, Fla., Silver said.

McCaughey is coaching ice hockey at Fairbanks of the West Coast Hockey League.

Sonier said he decided to step down to concentrate on his ice hockey career and to spend some time this summer with his family in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Sonier has two years left on his contract with the Huntington (W.Va.) Blizzard of the East Coast Hockey League, but said he would not rule out an offer if it was a step up.

“Ice hockey remains my main focus. I want to have myself in a position where if a job is offered to me in ice hockey that I can have no problems taking it,” he said.
