Strawberry Festival Director Appointed

The California Strawberry Festival committee has appointed Shelley Merrick of Ventura to oversee all operations for the weekend event.

As executive director, Merrick will be in charge of festival planning, marketing, scheduling and fund-raising for the May 17-18 event.

The festival, which takes place at Strawberry Meadows in College Park, features a range of delicacies, including crepes, pies and even strawberry pizzas.

“I’m looking forward to maintaining the excellent quality of the Strawberry Festival, as well as preserving the investment the community has made in this very special event, understandably the pride of Oxnard,” Merrick said.

Merrick, who was on the founding board of directors for Idaho’s Festival at Sandpoint, is a native Californian and mother of three.

Festival tickets, which include all on-site entertainment, are available at the gate for $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and children 2 to 12. Children under 2 are admitted free.
