Re the cover story on Maverick Records’ Guy Oseary (“Mr. Hustle,” by Robert Hilburn, Feb. 9):

I think Hilburn ought to check out this 3-year-old at the day-care center where I work. The kid shares toys without complaint, uses crayons without eating any and has only had two “accidents” all year.

In the case of both profiles, though, I think we might check back in 40 or 50 years to see what contributions the two have made as adults.

Robert Hilburn’s profile of Guy Oseary portrayed him as a hard-working young man who achieved success in the entertainment business without using “cutthroat, amoral” tactics. Yet it disturbed me to read that he enrolled at Beverly Hills High by “giving school officials a false address.” Since his Beverly Hills High connections directly led to his success, Oseary’s whole career began with the help of a lie.

Underscoring the severity of his false-address trick was an article the same day in the main news section, “School Districts Crack Down on Illegally Enrolled Students,” which stated, “It costs districts hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to educate kids who should be attending school closer to home.”

Hope my observations don’t offend. The truth is sometimes a jagged little pill to swallow.
