Innovative Health Care Chief to Be Honored
The late Samuel J. Tibbitts, who was a nationally recognized health care expert, is the first Californian to be elected to the National Healthcare Hall of Fame.
A reception hosted by the California Hospital Medical Center will be held in his memory on Feb. 20 at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles.
Tibbitts, who died in 1994, will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame at the American College of Healthcare executives banquet on March 2 in Chicago.
Tibbitts, who was chairman of the board of the nonprofit UniHealth America, created innovative cost-curbing group health delivery systems.
