Caring for the Elderly

Share

If you are caring for an elderly relative, you may feel you never have enough time to have all your questions answered.

Finding the right medical care, locating appropriate housing, dealing with financial concerns and other issues may make you feel vulnerable to fraud or misinformation.

A panel of geriatric experts will convene tonight in Long Beach to answer questions on these and other topics and outline local services available to caregivers and their families.

From in-home support services to community programs for seniors to legal issues and housing options, the panel will discuss costs, how to know when help is needed and how to get aid.

Participants are encouraged to bring real-life scenarios and questions to the discussion. Dr. H. Edmond Whitely, a geriatric psychiatrist, will moderate the free discussion.

Time and Place: 5:30 to 7 p.m. St. Mary Medical Center, Health Enhancement Center, Conference Room B, 1055 Linden Ave., Long Beach.
