Doctor Who Diluted Anesthesia Sentenced

After patients complained of excruciating pain on the operating table, a Hazleton hospital had two intravenous drug bags analyzed. The mixtures, prepared at Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center by Dr. Frank Ruhl Peterson, contained only trace amounts of painkillers. The anesthesiologist was diluting the medication to feed his own drug habit. Peterson, 45, was sentenced by a judge in Wilkes-Barre to 10 to 23 months in prison.
