From Times Wire Reports

Homosexuals around the world are being killed, tortured and imprisoned, Amnesty International said in a report on gay human rights released in London. “In countries all over the world, men and women are harassed, abducted, imprisoned, tortured and even murdered for their sexual identity,” Amnesty said. The international pressure group, whose British division put together the report, said gay men and lesbians are particularly vulnerable to human rights abuses and face prosecution in up to 60 countries for their sexual preferences. The report praised South Africa for becoming the first nation to include sexual orientation in the anti-discrimination provisions of its constitution. Amnesty called for the decriminalization of homosexuality around the world, citing such countries as Nigeria, Romania and India, where it is illegal.
