Dally Slaying Calls for Life Sentence

Share

* I just finished reading the article regarding bias in seeking the death penalty (Feb. 23).

As far as the district attorney seeking the death penalty in the Michael Dally/Diane Haun case, I do not believe that bias of any kind was involved in that decision. I think it’s more likely that the D.A. is seeking the death penalty to assure that if the defendants are convicted, they will at least receive life in prison, without the possibility of parole, instead of a slap on the wrist of only a few years.

After all, this was a horrible and premeditated murder, and the punishment needs to fit the crime. I feel that life in prison without parole would be the best punishment.
