The Los Angeles City Council has agreed to assist residents who suffered property damage during the gun battle in North Hollywood. The Handyworker Program, which provides free minor repairs to low-income elderly homeowners, will be extended to any resident whose home was damaged by bullets during the failed bank robbery.

The city will repair or replace damaged doors, windows, fences and security bars, as well as patch bullet holes and repaint interior or exterior walls. There will be a $500 limit on material costs.

For more information, contact the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council, Los Angeles Handyworker Program, 5315 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood (818) 761-7395.
