Anthony Bober--Because of incorrect information from the California Department of Consumer Affairs, The Times erroneously reported March 5 on an aspect of the case involving Anthony Thomas Bober, a Newport Beach marriage, family and child counselor. Though Bober was placed on three years’ probation by the department, he admitted to no wrongdoing.

“The reasons why we have the laws prohibiting counselors from engaging in sex with a client is that there may be problems the client is having at the time which prevents them from making decisions on their own,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Rhonda Cartwright-Ladendorf.

Though Bober will continue to practice, he is required to undergo a psychological examination, an oral competency exam, the supervision of his practice for the first 18 months of the probation, and pay $3,000 to cover investigation and prosecution costs.
