Help wanted: Must reside in the region stretching between Camarillo and Moorpark and possess the ability to voice opinions about the future of the community.

Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long is accepting applications from Las Posas Valley residents or business owners to serve on the revived Las Posas Citizens Committee.

The committee, just reestablished by the Board of Supervisors, will provide residents a forum to discuss and review issues affecting the Las Posas Valley-Somis area.

“It’s important to me that residents have a say in what takes place around them,” Long said. “The Las Posas Citizens Committee will give valley residents a voice in their future.”

The advisory committee will cover matters concerning the unincorporated area of 3,604 residents, 1,118 of whom live within Long’s 3rd District and the remainder in Supervisor Judy Mikels’ 4th District.

The Los Posas Citizens Committee was originally established in 1975, but the group has been inactive for several years. Long is responsible for appointing three members to the committee, and will accept applications through 5 p.m. March 25.

“To effectively govern as a county supervisor, I must maintain strong links of communication with those I serve,” Long said. “The immense diversity of District 3, in both geographic and demographic terms, requires me to take extraordinary steps to stay in touch with my constituents.”

For more information on the committee, contact Curtis Updike at 654-2276. Interested residents are urged to send a letter of interest and resume to Long’s office at 800 S. Victoria Ave., L1880, Ventura 93009.
