Margaret S. Hyatt; Retired Surgical Nurse
Margaret S. Hyatt, a highly regarded surgical nurse, has died at a Ventura hospital. She was 84.
Hyatt was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Biloxi, Miss., and moved to Ventura when she was 24. Her husband, Russell Hyatt, was a real estate broker. The couple helped develop many of the housing tracts in Ventura.
Margaret Hyatt worked as a surgical nurse at several area hospitals before retiring from the Ventura County Medical Center in 1981 to care for her ailing husband. She also helped put her granddaughter, Dianne Thompson, through nursing school.
In addition to Dianne Thompson, Hyatt is survived by a son, Edward Hyatt; a daughter, Dianne Arnold; two brothers, William and Joseph Bodie; a sister, Grace Gruich; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
