Las Vegas Man Convicted of Mortgage Fraud
A Las Vegas man was found guilty Wednesday in Los Angeles of using a fraudulent scheme to get mortgages for homes in the San Fernando Valley.
Stuart Rosenberg, 54, who once lived in several Valley areas, was convicted of two counts each of making false statements on a loan application, bank fraud and money laundering.
He used an alias and a fake Social Security number and asked others to borrow for him to get $1.8 million in loans for three houses, according to Assistant U.S. Atty. Aaron Dyer.
Banks lost more than $700,000 in the scheme, prosecutors said. Evidence during trial showed Rosenberg used the scheme to buy five houses, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
