Storms Bury North, Saturate Ohio Valley

Twin storms converged on the nation’s midsection, one soaking the waterlogged Ohio River Valley and the other dumping another dose of winter on the northern tier of states. Up to three inches of rain were forecast for the western end of the Ohio River Valley, endangering earthen levees holding back the cresting river in western Kentucky and southern Illinois. Meanwhile, the second storm system dumped several inches of snow on parts of North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
