Longtime county resident and oil plant operator Claude L. Windle died Thursday at his home in Ventura. He was 91.

Windle was born Aug. 12, 1905, in Butlers Landing, Tenn. He lived in Ventura County for 67 years.

For more than 40 years, Windle worked in oil production, retiring from Getty Oil in 1968 as a plant operator. He had previously worked for Associated Oil, Tidewater Oil and Tidewater Associates.

Windle was a member of Poinsettia Lodge 633, Free and Accepted Masons, for more than 50 years and was a member of Mount Olive White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 45 of Ventura and Order of the Eastern Star Fillmore/Ventura Chapter 79. He was a volunteer at the Ventura Senior Citizens Center for 25 years.

Windle is survived by his wife Georgia; two daughters, Freda Svoboda of Sacramento and Fern Garretson of Loveland, Colo.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Pastor Harmon Dickey of the Pentecostal Church of Ventura and members of Poinsettia Lodge 633, Free and Accepted Masons, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, c/o Poinsettia Lodge 633, F&AM;, 482 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura 93001.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
