ACT Networks Receives Order from Comsat Brasil

Officials with ACT Networks in Camarillo say the company has received a purchase order from Comsat Brasil Ltda. worth about $1.1 million.

The order, to be shipped this quarter, consists mainly of ACT’s NetPerformer products and will be used by Comsat Brasil to build integrated satellite-based networks. ACT Networks develops and manufactures wide-area-network access products that support voice, data and integrated network applications.

In other news, ACT announced the election of Frederick W. Gluck, 61, to its board of directors.

Gluck is vice chairman and a director of Bechtel Group Inc. and a member of the board of directors of Bechtel Enterprises. With his appointment, the number of directors on ACT Networks’ board is five.

Before joining Bechtel, Gluck spent 27 years with McKinsey & Co., a global management consulting firm, serving as a partner, director and ultimately as managing director. In addition, Gluck spent 10 years with Bell Telephone, working in program management, systems analysis and engineering and guidance systems designs.
