Prosecutors have declined to file charges against O.J. Simpson based on an altercation with a freelance cameraman on an Encino golf course.

Dan Hardy, who was on assignment for the television magazine show “Inside Edition,” claimed Simpson shoved, kicked and swung at him with golf clubs on the course. But after reviewing the matter, county authorities decided not to file charges against the former football great.

“There was not felony conduct involved,” said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Gibbons added that “the case has been referred to the city attorney for misdemeanor consideration.”

It will be up to the city attorney to decide whether to file misdemeanor charges.

Last month, a jury found Simpson liable in the deaths of his former wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman and ordered him to pay $33 million in damages.

Simpson has maintained his innocence in the incident involving Hardy, saying he asked the cameraman to leave but never touched him.

Hardy claimed that Simpson grabbed his camera and shoved him in the upper chest. Hardy said Simpson then picked up two golf clubs and threatened to strike him.

“It has not yet gotten to us,” said city attorney spokesman Mike Qualls. “But when the detective drops it by, we’ll take a look at it.”
