NLRB Lodges Complaint Against Contractor

Share

Jeans Plus Inc., a Vernon firm that for years made clothing for Los Angeles apparel giant Guess Inc., has been accused of unfair labor practices by the National Labor Relations Board. The board’s complaint accuses Jeans Plus of violating federal labor law by firing 13 workers and otherwise coercing employees in order to thwart their union-organizing efforts. Representatives of Jeans Plus, which is believed to have shut down operations recently, could not be reached for comment. The case is scheduled to be heard by an administrative law judge May 19. The NLRB, meanwhile, is looking into a union allegation that Guess recently shifted much of its production out of the country to illegally block a labor-organizing effort aimed at the company’s operations in Los Angeles.
