If so inclined, a horse player could have about 10 hours’ worth of action today at Santa Anita.

The track will take betting on the simulcasts from the United Arab Emirates--the $500,000 Dubai Duty Free and the $4-million Dubai World Cup--with post time for the Duty Free scheduled for 7:30 a.m. The World Cup, which features Siphon and Sandpit, the 1-2 finishers in the Santa Anita Handicap earlier this month, is scheduled for 8:15 a.m.

After that, there will be simulcasts from Woodbine in Toronto starting at 9 a.m., then the live races at 12:30 with the ninth and final race scheduled to be run shortly before 5 p.m.

There will be two other simulcasts of national interest, the $200,000 Gotham Stakes from Aqueduct to be shown between the second and third races, and the $600,000 Jim Beam Stakes from Turfway Park to be shown between the fourth and fifth.

A prep for the $500,000 Wood Memorial in two weeks, the one-mile Gotham attracted a dozen 3-year-olds and The Silver Move was established the 3-1 favorite.

A lightly raced son of Silver Buck, who is also Silver Charm’s sire, The Silver Move was bothered by a crack in the hoof after a 4 1/2-length victory in the Remsen last Dec. 1 at Aqueduct.

He didn’t return to action until March 15, then ran third in the seven-furlong Swale Stakes.

Trained by Linda Rice, he came back to work in 59 1/5 over Belmont Park’s training track and is reunited with Richard Migliore, who has been aboard for all three of his victories.

Another colt who has had only one start in 1997 is the 7-2 second choice. Ordway reportedly swallowed his tongue and was bothered by the Florida heat when he ran last in the Hutcheson at Gulfstream Park nearly two months ago.

Brought back to New York by trainer David Donk, Ordway, who ran third as the 7-5 favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, has had five workouts since the Hutcheson and will be ridden for the first time by Pat Day.

Racing for the first time since the Best Pal last Aug. 21 at Del Mar, Deeds Not Words is 4-1 on the morning line. Trained by Wayne Lukas for owner Michael Tabor, the gray Rubiano colt was an impressive four-length winner in his debut, beating, among others, Silver Charm. Shane Sellers will be aboard.

The field also includes Wild Wonder, who will be making his first start outside Northern California. He has won four of five for trainer Greg Gilchrist and owner Verne Winchell, losing to Pacificbounty in the El Camino Real Derby on March 8 at Bay Meadows. He landed the rail and Mike Smith will ride.

From the rail, the other participants are Bleu Madura, Mining Surprise, Sunshine Mikey, Adverse, American Champ, Gestalt, Smokin Mel and Christian Soldier.

In the Beam, which goes at 1 1/8 miles, Concerto is favored to win his fourth in a row for owner George Steinbrenner and trainer John Tammaro.

His main competition figures to come from San Rafael winner Funontherun, and Inexcessivelygood.

Horse Racing Notes

Chile Chatte is the 2-1 favorite to earn her first stakes victory when she takes on eight other fillies and mares in the restricted Santa Lucia Handicap today at Santa Anita. Chile Chatte was second to Belle’s Flag in last month’s La Canada. . . . Apprentice jockey Ryan Barber, 19, who has ridden previously in Maryland and Ohio and has 57 victories, will make his Santa Anita debut today when he rides 6-1 shot Wesley’s Delight in the sixth race.
