Victims’ Families

* In response to Stephen Rohde, letter, April 1: I do agree with you in regard to people rethinking capital punishment. However, we Americans are tired of paying taxes to keep these murderers/rapists, etc. in prison. I had a family member brutally raped and murdered by the Hillside Stranglers in the ‘70s, and those two men are sitting in jail and they can be paroled in seven more years. Where is the justice here?

When the innocent life of a 12-year-old girl is taken so brutally, why should we be so understanding and think of the criminal’s rights? They lose their rights completely; they become scum. Until you walk in the shoes of a family member who has lost someone so brutally, you can never understand what we feel. Give the criminal to the family and let them decide what justice is!
