Checkpoint Systems Inc. of Thorofare, N.Y., said its board authorized management to buy back as much as 10% of its outstanding common stock, or about 3.4 million shares. The maker of electronic surveillance systems for retailers said the shares could be used for acquisitions. . . . Philadelphia-based Hunt Manufacturing Co. said it will cut 300 jobs, or 15% of its staff, and take a charge of $14 million to $16 million this year as it concentrates on the most profitable segments of its office supply business. The company also said it may sell its Bevis office furniture unit. . . . Coca-Cola Co.’s Minute Maid unit should stop running ads claiming that consumers prefer its frozen-concentrate juices to rival Tropicana’s not-from-concentrate version, the National Advertising Review Board ruled. . . . Fleishman-Hillard Inc. will be bought by Omnicom Group of New York, a trade journal reported. The deal, worth between $85 million and $100 million, will create the world’s largest public relations operation.
