College to Hold Free Health Fair Expo

Health-care specialists from several organizations will dispense free advice on ways to improve individual well-being on Monday at Valley College’s 20th annual Health Fair Expo.

Representatives will provide information on a variety of health-related issues, including dermatology, dentistry, podiatry and chiropractic, said Shannon Stack, director of media services.

Free screenings for body fat, vision, high blood pressure, pregnancy and HIV, among others, also will be offered, Stack said. Additional workshops will focus on stress management, dating and eating disorders.

The health fair, which will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monarch Square at the center of campus, is being sponsored by the American Red Cross, NBC-TV Channel 4, Chevron, Sav-on Drugs and the Healthcare Assn. of Southern California, Stack said.

Among exhibitors expected to participate, Stack said, are the American Diabetes Assn., Arthritis Foundation, Alzheimer’s Assn., Osteoporosis Detection Center, National Kidney Foundation, National Parkinson’s Foundation, Theater of Hope for Abused Women and the Minority AIDS project.

The health fair is free to the public, Stack said. The campus is at 5800 Fulton Ave.
