The use of Jewish ethics as a guide to intergroup relations will be the subject of two talks next week by Rabbi Ed Feinstein of Valley Beth Shalom.

The programs will mark Jewish Awareness Month by Hillel at Pierce and Valley colleges, an organization serving both campuses.

The one-hour talks, which are free to the public, will be held Monday at Pierce College and Wednesday at Valley College, said Nomi Gordon, director of the local branch of the national Jewish campus group.

At Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Ave. in Woodland Hills, the event will take place in the Campus Center beginning at 11 a.m. At Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave. in Van Nuys, the event is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Fireside Room of the Campus Center.

Feinstein, whose talk is titled “Building Bridges of Understanding,” will discuss Jewish ethics as a means of “fostering positive interpersonal and intergroup relations in our multicultural society,” Gordon said.

The program is being sponsored by a grant from Hillel’s Jacob Burns Endowment in Ethics, she said.

The purpose of the programs, Gordon said, “is to provide the college communities with opportunities to celebrate Jewish life and to learn more about the Jewish heritage.”

Another Hillel event on Thursday will feature storyteller Karen Golden, who will perform “Elijah Is Alive and Well and Living in Southern California,” at 8 p.m. at Cafe Hillel, 19720 Ventura Blvd, Suite G, Woodland Hills.
