Anaheim Sports Inc. has announced an agreement with The Times Orange County for an exclusive advertising, community, education and public relations partnership between the paper and Anaheim Stadium and the Anaheim Angels.

Under the partnership, The Times Orange County will become the print publication and newspaper for Anaheim Stadium, a role that will be heralded by signs and newspaper sales at the sports facility.

Anaheim Sports Inc., which assumed control of the stadium in October, will also combine resources with the newspaper for promotional, community and educational events.

“This agreement underscores our long-term commitment to Orange County and provides an important addition to our community services effort,” said Robert G. Magnuson, president of The Times Orange County.

Times Publisher and CEO Richard T. Schlosberg III said the agreement will also enhance the newspaper’s relationship with the Walt Disney Co., the parent company of Anaheim Sports Inc.

“The Times has had a strong relationship with the Walt Disney Co. for many years,” Schlosberg said. “The addition of this partnership with Disney’s professional sports organization represents a powerful new dimension of this relationship.”

“We are excited to have a partner with a solid worldwide reputation like The Times Orange County,” said Tony Tavares, president of Anaheim Sports Inc. “This relationship will help us as we continue to build our new state-of-the-art baseball facility.”

The agreement with The Times Orange County marks the first of six building partnerships planned for the renovated stadium. Financial terms of the agreement, which runs through 2001, were not released.
