California Amplifier in Camarillo has agreed to acquire a 50.5% controlling interest in Micro Pulse Inc., a company in which it already held a 50% equity interest.

California Amplifier, which purchased its previous stake in 1993 for $500,000, acquired the additional ownership by reducing by $100,000 the sum Micro Pulse owed it under a prior borrowing arrangement.

Micro Pulse designs and manufactures antennas for global positioning systems and other wireless applications. For the year ended March 1, it had sales of $5.5 million and pretax income of $550,000, compared with sales of $3.6 million and pretax income of $196,000 for the year ended March 2, 1996.

The operations of Micro Pulse were consolidated with those of California Amplifier effective March 2.

“We have been extremely pleased with the growth of Micro Pulse and its progress since our initial investment in 1993,” said Ira Coron, California Amplifier’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We believe a controlling interest will allow California Amplifier stockholders better visibility into the operations of this fast-growing enterprise.”

California Amplifier designs and manufactures amplifiers, downconverters, antennas and integrated products for the reception of microwave signals used primarily in conjunction with the delivery of multichannel television.
