Sniper Fires at Police Officers Escorting Murder Suspects
A sniper fired at police Thursday as they were escorting two gang murder suspects from a Wilmingon house to a patrol car, authorities said.
LAPD spokesman Eduardo Funes said officers serving warrants began a 12-house sweep about 5:30 a.m.
The officers were searching a house in the 300 block of West Sandison Street for suspects in the April 9 shooting death of Rafael Ruiz, Funes said, when the shots were fired. Ruiz was killed in a gang battle in the 1200 block of McDonald Street.
